GLOWS efforts in the Wakel River Basin build upon the ongoing activities of its partner, World Vision, at the Navprabhat Area Development Project (ADP). The Navprabhat ADP involves activities such as modifications to the landscape (e.g., soil bunding, gulley-plugging, check dams) to minimize rainwater runoff and erosion, making more water available for crops like rice and maize. The ADP also works with local people to form community based organizations and provide more equitable access to clean drinking water. GLOWS contributions to these efforts will increase knowledge about quality and quantity of groundwater supplies, improve sustainability of rainwater harvesting techniques, and strengthen stakeholder collaborations and community based organizations.
